Just a fun picture from last week because Haru mentioned "gothic pirate" in GC, so I thought "I want to draw one!" But there's not enough lace!

theres alot of people that make a good living drawing for production companies........ whenever an ad agency pitches a movie or commercial or ad campaign or line of cosmetics or clothes or cars or anything they need drawings of whatever it is........

not sure the technical term but i know the positions exist....... one day they could need a cat in a spacesuit and the next they might need a mountain stream......

any movie also has a " story board", thats the whole story drawn out in advance so the execs can kina sorta " see " what the story is b4 they invest millions of dollars on it

tourism departments for countries, travel agencies, airlines, adventure companies, diving companies ect ect also need artists to do a rough draft of possible pamphlets and layouts done inexpensively so they can choose which 1's they might want to produce.......

even restuaraunts need artwork done , not the pictures of the food but the designs of the menus, signage ect

architects also need artists to add the " bells and whistles" to thier drawings.......

you have a gift ( several in fact ) if you love to draw check out some of the local things in your area or draw something up and walk into local businesses n see what they say........

ads for sales, business cards w/e they might need, even murals on walls for restuaraunts or tanning salons or pet stores or clothing stores...... people will always pay for originality and they LOVE to see the name of thier business in new and exciting ways...

concept and storyboard artist? Concept artists are so cool... they do things like concept art for Guild wars, all these amazing digital art landscapes and costume ideas. I'll think about art school, and I'm thinking even another direction of costumes (im learning about sewing!) But man it would be awesome to be a concept artist! *practices more*

These days it sounds like you need to get into a good art school to break in, but its scary to take that step

baby steps toby..........

go to that favorite resturaunt you like so much, take a picture of the logo and the menu with your phone...... do a rough sketch of where the borders go, the things that seperate the sections, note where the logos go......

take all that info home, make them a whole new menu....... leave the places blank where the food info goes, re-draw thier menu with a different " style ".......... leave thier logo the same....... all the flourishes and borders and distinctive stuff.......

i dont know what it looks like so i cant give u any ideas, throw in some contemapary themes......... stuff you can draw....... stuff in the corners, along the sides....... dress it up with more modern stuff, all it is, is some ink or pencil lead..... and your time of course..... then take it to them and see what they say......

my guess is they or other companies cant afford the big dollar ad agencies to re-do thier current printed items....... but that doesnt mean they wouldnt pay small to medium bucks to a new aspiring artist AND get themselves a fresh new look......

art schools are great but thats in the future, im talking about now.... things u can do now, today to possibly make money and get some experiance..... if your an artist you " see " things differently, you see them as they might be not always as they are, improve things, add to them, make them better or different........ thats what artists do, they create what they see in thier heads not only whats in front of them

watch cable tv, see what local companies have an active advertising budget, think of what you can do 4 them, walk through town, maybe clothing stores could use some murals on walls or maybe even some new " sale " posters........ bright colorful signs that say " restrooms " " exit" ect ect........ its not romantic i realize but it is exposure and hopefully money 4 you

offer to draw tatoos on thier maniquins ( spell check) like the stores logo on the arms or lower backs (tramp stamp) your the artist " see " things and offer to let other see what you do.........

draw names of your sisters with thier favorite things for thier bedroom doors or over their beds......... flowers, birds, pirates w/e thier into, then once a few friends see them u mmight get other people wanting stuff like that.........

im just trying to help, forgive me for being so assertive but you know how passionate i get about subjects i believe in........ i believe in you and so does every1 else >i<

I should get a new picture of me, my awsome super pro mountain man bear wrestling beard on here.

My goal is to look old at school so the teachers, faculty are like "Sir, are you supposed to be here? Are you looking for he office?" And then I'd be like "No I'm a 36 year old who got stuck in the twelth grade forever to torment all of you."

And then I could so do an Mountain man/Yeti laugh.

Something like an wolfs howl mixed with the rawr of a bear, the grunt of a silverback gorilla......
